Blizzard Fall 4-2 In Jets Home Opener

Alexandria Blizzard News Release

FARGO, ND - If hockey was a 40-minute game, the Alexandria Blizzard would be on a roll. But it's not and for the third time in five games, the middle 20 minutes sealed the deal.

After jumping to a 2-1 lead in the opening frame on the strength of good old fashioned hard work, the Blizzard went to sleep in the second. That lapse enabled the Fargo-Moorhead Jets to score three times - including two with the man advantage - and coast to a 4-2 victory in their home opener.

By the third frame, the Blizzard were back on track but it was too little, too late. Despite numerous scoring opportunities and an obvious advantage in territorial play, Alexandria could not beat Elliot Okland in the Jets' goal.

Jens Nilsson (Mattfors, Sweden) and Noah Nemgar (Bemidji, MN) scored for Alexandria. Ryan Leets (Kentwood, MI) took the loss in goal. The setback dropped the Blizzard to 1-4-0 while the Jets raised their season mark to 3-2-0. The two teams will meet again Saturday night in Fargo.
