North Iowa Outlaws News Release

(Alexandria, MN) Sunday evening, the North Iowa Outlaws Junior "A" Hockey team fell behind early, and a three-goal deficit proved to be too much to overcome. The Alexandria Blizzard skated to a 4-2 win at the Runestone Community Center in Alexandria, to finish off a perfect 3-0 weekend.

Dan Swanson led the Alexandria attack, scoring once and assisting on two other goals. Shawn Bitzan and Rylan Galiardi also scored, helping the Blizzard post a 3-0 lead early in the second period. Trailing by three nearly midway through the game, the Outlaws got on the board. Max Mobley (Glendale, AZ) netted a power play goal, with assists going to Steve McLeod (Atikokan, Ontario, Canada) and Alex Tuckerman (Orleans, MA). Mobley's score marked the fifth consecutive game that the Outlaws have notched at least one power play goal. North Iowa closed Alexandria's lead to a single goal, at the 1:22 mark of the final period. Patrick Dynan (Maple Plain, MN) tallied his team-leading ninth goal, which was set up by Ben Boulay (Bloomington, MN) and Chris Mackay (Missouri City, TX). The Outlaws' momentum was stifled just moments later. The Blizzard's Dylan Decker gave his team valuable insurance, with a goal at the 5:23 mark, to close out the scoring. North Iowa out-shot the Blizzard 12-6 in the third period, but Alexandria goalie Max Dodds made several key saves, to prevent a bigger Outlaws' comeback.

Eric Largen (Fairbanks, AK) made his second start in the nets for the Outlaws' finishing with 20 saves.

The loss dropped the North Iowa record to 4-7-0, while the Blizzard moved into sole possession of second place in the NAHL Central, with a 5-2-0 mark. Both teams are off until Wednesday, which is the opening day of the North American Hockey League Showcase. The Outlaws' first game at the Showcase will start at Noon Wednesday, with the Alpena Ice Diggers providing the opposition. Wednesday and Friday afternoon's North Iowa games at the NAHL Showcase will air locally on Good Time Oldies, AM 1490, KRIB. The Outlaws' games Thursday and Saturday nights will be aired on Eagle Country, KY102.7 FM in the North Iowa region. All four North Iowa Outlaws' contests at the League Showcase will be streamed on the internet, at www.northiowaoutlaws.com.
