Kamloops Blazers News Release
In a very rare Monday night game, the Blazers will host the red hot Kelowna Rockets tonight at ISC. The Blazers posted wins over the Everett Silvertips and Prince Albert Raiders last week while the Rockets picked up 3 wins in 3 nights from Thursday through Saturday.
This is the 5th meeting of the season between the division rivals with each team picking up 2 wins so far. Game time is 7pm.
The Blazers Ticket Office at ISC is open today through to game time - stop by or call 250-828-3339 to purchase tickets. Purchase online here.
Tonight's game is also the 4th Annual Tk'emlups Indian Band Aboriginal Night. It will be a night to honour the local First Nations culture and will feature performances by the Sage Hills Drummers and one of Canada's top aboriginal singers, Inez, who will also sing the national anthem. As well, there will be various booths set up on the concourse courtesy of the Tk'emlups Indian Band.
Niedermayer Retirement Night a Huge Success!
Thank you to all the fans who came out on Friday night to be a part of the Scott Niedermayer jersey retirement. A sold out ISC watched as Niedermayer's #28 was hoisted to the rafters at ISC following a ceremony which featured distinguished guest speakers, gift presentations to Scott and his family, and videos of messages and career highlights. It was a night to remember, and the Blazers promptly capped it off with a 4-1 win over the visiting Raiders.
Niedermayer Jersey Auction
On Friday night, prior to Scott Niedermayer's #28 being retired, the entire Blazers squad donned vintage 1992 jerseys all with Niedermayer's name bar and his #28 for the warm-ups. It was the final time Scott Niedermayer's #28 was worn in a Kamloops Blazers uniform.
During Friday's game, 10 jerseys were made available for auction only to fans in attendance that night. The Blazers have announced that an additional 10 jerseys have been made available this week for bidding at Monday and Friday's home games, as well as online.
Only 40 of these authentic jerseys have been made and Scott has autographed each one. The jerseys are being auctioned via a Blind Ballot Auction. A ballot box will be set up at the east end of the concourse behind section K for home games, and bids can also be emailed to NiedermayerJerseys@gmail.com.
The 10 highest bids will receive an autographed jersey. The minimum bid is $350; the auction will close on Saturday, February 2nd at 9am PST.
Partial proceeds from the jersey auction will be donated to a charity of Scott's choice.
Each jersey has been patched on the inside collar to mark the occasion and that it is one of only 40 made (please see photo below). Winning bidders will also receive a certificate of authenticity.
