Blazers Help With Fundraiser
December 6, 2008 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
West Virginia Blazers News Release
Bluefield, WV. The ABA WV Blazers continue to help area schools raise money/ On December 6th, the Blazers conducted a basketball clinic for youth from the Beckley area at the Cranberry Elementary School in Beckley WV. The clinic was part of a day long Chirstmas Bazaar that the Cranberry Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO) held for a fundraiser. Registration fees for the clinic helped produce income for the PTO to use to benefit students.
About 35 elementary school youth were present for the clinic. It was a fun day for the attendees and the Blazer players working with the kids. Basic basketball skills were taught with relays mixed in for fun. Photos of the event will be on the WV Blazers website soon at www.wvblazers.com.
The Blazers Blazers next free clinic for youth was a Burlington NC on December 7th where an exhibition game was played. One of the Blazers players, Desi Crisp, is from Burlington. "We were pleased to be able to go to Desi's hometown and work with youth in his community," said Cindy Preast, GM. "The folks from Burlington are proud of Desi and this gave them a chance to see him in action." The WV Blazers have their first regular season game on Friday, December 12th vs the #1 ranked Nashville Broncs. For more information, visit www.wvblazers.com or www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
