
Blazers Announce First Signee for 04-05 Season

Oklahoma City, Okla. â The Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League signed defenseman Joel Pullman, Blazers head coach Doug Sauter announced today.
Pullman, a 6-2, 200-pounder from Springside, Saskatchewan skated the last two seasons with the Estevan Bruins of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. He picked up 60 points (16-44-60) and served 79 penalty minutes in 118 games.
Last season, Pullman earned the prestigious Hockey Ministries International Roger Neilson Award. This award is presented to a player who displays an attitude of sportsmanship on and off the ice, who displays leadership qualities in the locker room and in game situations and a player who consistently chooses to make positive lifestyle choices.
"Joel showed us the skill that he has as a hockey player at the end of last season," said Sauter. "Our staff is confident that he can be a great player for the Blazers. By winning the Roger Neilson award, he shows that he has great character. That one trait that I look for in players to be a member of the Blazers."
Pullman is the first player signed by the Blazers for the 2004-05 campaign. The Blazers will begin its 13th season in October of 2004. Season ticket prices for the 2004-05 season are expected to be announced in the near future.
NOTE: Blazers head coach Doug Sauter's son Kent was selected by the Red Deer Rebels in the 11th round of the Western Hockey League bantam draft on April 29. Of the 222 players selected in the draft, just nine were American, including the youngest Sauter. California led the way with four players selected, while Oklahoma, Arizona, Minnesota, Washington and Colorado each had one player chosen.
