Oklahoma City Blazers News Release

Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Oklahoma City Blazers have acquired the rights to forward Greg Olsen from the Indianapolis Ice and defenseman David Bourque from the Corpus Christi Rayz, the team's front office announced today.

The 27-year-old Olsen skated last season with the Indianapolis Ice. In 63 games with the Ice, the 5-10, 185-pounder from Calgary, Alberta picked up 27 points (11-16-27) while serving a team high 149 penalty minutes. In 244 games as a professional he has totaled 148 points (76-72-148), while serving 503 penalty minutes. Olsen currently ranks fifth on the United Hockey League's Elmira Jackals all-time scoring list with 97 points (52-45-97). His most productive season as a professional came with Elmira during the 2000-01 campaign when he scored 51 points (32-19-51) while serving 133 penalty minutes in 73 games. The Blazers' acquisition of Olsen completes the mid-season trade for left wing Jared Dumba.

Last season, the 6-1, 205-pound Bourque split time between the Rayz and New Mexico Scorpions. In 53 games, he racked up 18 points (3-15-18) while serving 38 penalty minutes. In 209 games as a professional, Bourque has amassed 60 points (16-44-60) while serving 250 penalty minutes. Bourque's best season as a professional came during the 2001-02 season when he piled up 24 points (9-15-24) with the Fort Worth Brahmas. The Blazers' acquisition of Bourque completes the mid-season trade of goaltender Aren Miller to the Rayz.

"Bourque is an experienced defensemen with many games played in this league," said Blazers head coach Doug Sauter. "Olsen is a gritty two-way forward that may remind many fans of Peter Arvanitis."
