Chicago Blaze News Release
The Chicago Blaze have completed their free agent tryout camp at West Meadows Ice Arena in Rolling Meadows, IL. Over forty players attended the camp to show off their skills for Head Coach Steve Pronger. The sessions completed Friday with a scrimmage format split into a pair of forty-five minute halfs. Forward Justin Elmore of Springfield, Illinois stood out on the offensive end of the ice; while the already signed, Arik Lebda and Joe Pace looked solid on the blue line. The length of the halfs may have gotten to the players as a pair of fights broke out towards the end of the second ice session.
Overall Pronger liked what he saw from many of the prospects electing to extend eight invitations to the team's training camp: Justin Elmore, James Brooks, Devin Chaput, Tim Spryszak, Rob Rosmis, Andy Cripps, Kevin High, and Jay Clark. At camp Pronger, said he will be "looking for the seventeen right players, not the necessarily the seventeen best players" to execute his aggressive style of play.
Training camp opens for the Blaze on October 12, at West Meadows Arena and all sessions will be free for fans to attend. Tickets for the October 24, home opener against Detroit, and all other Blaze games are available at www.chicagoblazehockey.com for as low as $8 for individual seats.
