Blaze to hold mini-camp December 19-21

SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze will begin preparations for the 2006 Arena Football League season by hosting a mini-camp Monday, December 19 through Wednesday, December 21, the team announced today. The Blaze will open training camp on January 5, 2006.

"We are excited to get things started," said Blaze head coach and general manager DANNY WHITE. "After all the months of planning and preparation, this mini-camp will allow us to get a first look at our full squad. This will give us a chance to teach our system to many of the new guys and evaluate our team, as a whole, before we open officially on January 5."

Tuesday, December 20 10:15 a.m.-12 p.m. & 4-6 p.m.

Local players scheduled to attend the mini-camp include: JASON ANDERSEN (Brigham Young), DOUG KAUFUSI (Utah), HANS OLSEN (Brigham Young), LEWIS POWELL (Utah), TEVITA OFAHENGAUE (Brigham Young), GARRETT SMITH (Utah), EMMITT WHITE (Utah State) and JERMAINE YOUNGER (Utah State).

The entire 37-man training camp roster will report for physicals on January 5. Included in this year's training camp itinerary: double-session practices and a trip to Nashville for joint practices with the Nashville Kats at the Gaylord Entertainment Center on January 16-18.

The first two days of mini-camp workouts will be held at the team's practice facility, University of Utah's Spence Eccles Fieldhouse, located at 650 Guardsman Way. Mini-camp practices will be open to the public with coaches and players available to the media after practice each day. The Blaze will be required to cut down to its regular-season, 24-man roster by Monday, January 24.
