
Blaze team with Guns & Hoses for charity

SALT LAKE CITY- The Utah Blaze announce a partnership with "Guns & Hoses of Utah" to raise money for the Huntsman Children's Cancer Treatment Center. Local fire departments and police agencies will participate in a charity flag football game that will be played prior to the Blaze game against the Los Angeles Avengers on Saturday, April 15 at the Delta Center. The flag football game will start at 1 p.m.
The tickets, which will be good for admittance to both games, are being sold at a discounted price and proceeds will be donated to the Treatment Center. Tickets for this Guns & Hoses event are available exclusively by calling Jay Stevens 801-403-6166 or Jess Davis at the Blaze 801-257-3485.
"After 9/11, there was an overwhelming desire for us to do more in the community," said Director of Guns and Hoses, JAY STEVENS. "Building the comradery between the fire departments and police agencies in the valley is always a great idea and getting involved in sports and a charity makes it fun."
The Guns and Hoses of Utah organization was established in 2001 by Jay Stevens. The organization has been involved with numerous charitable events, including: The Intermountain Burn Camp, camps for diabetic children, Sub-4-Santa and the Fallen Brother Fund, which is set up for police officers and firefighters that have died or been seriously injured in the line of duty.
"We are thrilled to be associated with Guns and Hoses," said Blaze president, JASON JONES. "One of our main objectives that we had from the beginning was to be involved in the community. This is a great cause and we are happy to lend our support."
Guns & Hoses participates in events including hockey, basketball, softball, golf, two 5k runs per year and starting this year, Arena Football. Guns & Hoses include firefighters and police officers from Ogden to Provo.
The Blaze host another divisional game against the Los Angeles Avengers this Saturday, April 15 at the Delta Center, kickoff is at 7 p.m. The game can be seen live on KJZZ 14 and heard on 1280 The Zone.
