
Blaze Surrender Early Goals in Loss to Rush

RAPID CITY, S.D. - The Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, gave up three first period goals and fell 4-0 on Tuesday night at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
The Rush struck first with 14:40 left in the first period with a wrist shot from Anthony Perdicaro on the run from the right circle, assisted by Les Reaney and Riley Weselowski. The home squad made it 2-0 with 4:11 left in the first when Jake Morrissette crashed the right side and deflected a pass on the glove side, with Konrad Reeder and Scott Wray assisting. The same combination pushed the Rush ahead to a 3-0 lead with only 1:16 left in the period when Morrissette collected his own rebound and backhanded the puck into an open net.
After a scoreless second period, the Rush made it 4-0 when Scott Wray cleaned up a loose puck directly in front of the crease, assisted by Reeder and Morrissette with 15:49 remaining in regulation.
The Blaze fall to 24-32-7, as the Rush clinch a playoff spot by improving to 37-21-6. The Rush take the season series over the Blaze 3-2-0. Zane Kalemba took the loss in goal for the Blaze with 31 saves, while Tim Boron picked up his third shutout win of the season with 39 saves. Both teams were 0-for-4 on the power play.
The Blaze conclude the inaugural season with road games on Friday and Saturday. The Blaze visit Independence, Missouri on Friday to face the Missouri Mavericks followed by a trip to Moline on Saturday to take on the Quad City Mallards. Opening face-off is scheduled for 7:05 both nights, and both games can be heard live on WJBC.com and CHL-TV. Fans are invited to watch at Gill Street Sports Bar and Restaurant, 3002 Gill Street in Bloomington.
