Blaze Open Three-Game Week with Thursday Home Game

November 30, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bloomington Blaze News Release

The Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, try to build on a thrilling win on Saturday by beginning a three-game-in-four-day swing on home ice Thursday.

The Blaze host the Evansville IceMen on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. in the season's first Thirsty Thursday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum, featuring $2 beers and $2 Pepsi products. The Blaze lost the only other regular season matchup against the IceMen 4-1 on November 4 in Bloomington. The Blaze quickly hit the road for a Friday contest at BOK Center in Tulsa, and will take on the IceMen again on Sunday at 5 p.m. in Evansville's new Ford Center.

The Blaze (2-10-2) are led in scoring with 13 points each from Jon Booras and Brodie Sheahan. Booras also leads the team with five goals, including Saturday's game-winner in a thrilling come-from-behind 4-3 win over then-Berry Conference leader Allen on Saturday night at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

The Blaze are expected to have Sheahan back in the lineup this week after sitting out last weekend's action with an upper-body injury. Forward Luke Popko is also expected to return to the lineup after sitting out Friday and Saturday with a lower-body injury. The Blaze have signed defenseman Omar Pacha, a six-foot, 200-pound native of Quebec who is being called up from Huntsville of the Southern Professional Hockey League where he scored three goals and eight assists with 27 penalty minutes in 14 games.

The IceMen (9-3-1) lead the Turner Conference by one point over the Fort Wayne Komets, and are led by veteran Todd Robinson with 19 points (four goals, 15 assists), which ties him for second in CHL scoring. Robinson's 15 assists is tops in the league. The Tulsa Oilers (9-6-2) are third in the Berry Conference, just two points out of first place, and are led by CHL goal-scoring leader Mike Ullrich with 12 lamp-lighters, and Dylan Clarke who shares the team scoring lead with Ullrich with 20 points.

Fans are invited to watch all road games at Gill Street Sports Bar and Restaurant, 3002 Gill Street in Bloomington. The Blaze next return home for Friday and Saturday contests next weekend, December 9 and 10. Tickets and more information are available by calling the Blaze office at 309-434-2980.
