Utah Blaze News Release

SALT LAKE CITY -The Utah Blaze announced today the signings of QB Caleb Eastman (6-3, 210, Idaho State) and DB Justin Phinesee (5-11, 200, Oregon). The Blaze also placed WR Wendall Williams (6-0, 190, Rhode Island) and FB/LB Corey Dodds (6-3, 245, Utah) on the Injured Reserve List.

Eastman spent time with the Blaze in 2008 on the practice squad and played collegiately at Idaho State. In 2009 with the Ogden Knights of the AIFA, he completed 112-of-200 passing for 1,295 yards, 23 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Phinesee was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the seventh round (235th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft. He also has spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, St. Louis Rams, Dallas Cowboys and Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL. In his senior year at Oregon, he led the team with eight pass breakups, was third on the team in tackles with 66 and was second in interceptions with four.

Williams was placed on IR due to a hamstring injury, while Dodds will not return to play this season due to a torn ACL, which was incurred during last week's game versus the Spokane Shock.

The Blaze return home to Maakoa Field at the E Center this Friday to face the Arizona Rattlers on May 28 with kickoff at 7 p.m. The Blaze will be hosting Military Appreciation Night and the return of former Blaze head coach Danny White. Single-game tickets can be purchased through www.ticketmaster.com. Group and season tickets are also available by calling 888-99BLAZE or information can be found at www.utblaze.com.
