Blaze Host Mallards Saturday in Final Weekend

The Bloomington Blaze, fueled by Mid-Illini Credit Union, conclude the regular season with three games against their Illinois counterpart in the Central Hockey League.

The Blaze face the Quad City Mallards on Saturday in the home finale between trips to Moline on Friday and Sunday. Face-offs are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4:05 p.m. on Monday. The Blaze are 9-7-0 against the Mallards this season but lost the most recent matchup 5-3 on Sunday in Moline. The Blaze chances at a post-season berth ended with Tuesday's 4-2 loss at home to Missouri.

For the Mallards, All-CHL forward Mickey Lang is tied for fourth in league scoring with 79 points (39 goals, 40 assists) with 12 goals and 10 assists coming against the Blaze. Mallard forward and CHL Rookie of the Year Mike Hellyer also has 22 points (7 goals, 15 assists) against the Blaze. Jon Booras leads the Blaze with 30 goals and 51 assists for 81 points, second in the CHL, with 7 goals and 18 assists tallied against the Flock. Blaze forward David Gilbert has 11 goals and 8 assists against Quad City.

Saturday's final home game is Fan Appreciation Night with Blaze end-of-season awards to be announced before the opening face-off. A silent auction for the team's red game jerseys continue through the first period of Saturday's game with winners announced during the first intermission, and the black game jerseys will be auctioned immediately after the contest.
