The Bloomington Blaze, fueled by Mid-Illini Credit Union, hit the road Friday before coming home Saturday for a special giveaway night.
The Blaze travel to suburban Kansas City to face the Missouri Mavericks on Friday night. The Blaze lost 6-3 in Bloomington last Sunday and are 2-5-0 this season against the Mavericks. The Blaze rebounded with a 4-1 win at Quad City on Tuesday night behind two goals from Jon Booras, who leads the Blaze and is fifth in the Central Hockey League with 21 goals and 40 assists for 61 points. The Mavericks are paced by CHL scoring leader Sebastien Thinel with 21 goals and 48 assists for 69 points.
The Blaze return to U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Saturday night for the first of four straight games against the Rapid City Rush. Damien Surma leads the Rush with 14 goals and 26 assists for 40 points. The Rush are tied for sixth place with 51 points going into the weekend, just one point ahead of the Blaze.
The first 1,500 fans at Saturday's game will receive a Blaze cap compliments of Carpets Plus Color Tile. The Blaze will rematch with the Rush on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. at U.S. Cellular Coliseum, a game that was originally scheduled for this Sunday but moved due to concerts by country artist Luke Bryan. Tickets that read Feb. 17 will be accepted on Wednesday, Feb. 20 with no exchange necessary. Wednesday is Scout Night with admission of only $6 for children and $10 for adults, and scout patches for the night will be available for only $2.
