Utah Blaze News Release
SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze players continued to pick up the pace during the fourth day of practice at the Delta Center on Tuesday.
"I think we are starting to get used to things," said veteran WR/LB TOM PACE. "We started a little slow today, but I think guys are getting to a comfort level and starting to fly around. It's great to hear the hitting."
Starting QB JOE GERMAINE worked efficiently with the veteran receiving corps of: OS SIAHA BURLEY, WR/DB ORSHAWANTE BRYANT, WR/LB JUSTIN SKAGGS and Pace.
Under the watchful eye of offensive coordinator and future AFL Hall of Famer HUNKIE COOPER, newcomers QB JASON GESSER and TALI ENA continued to show improvement, while OS HURTIS CHINN, OS TROY MASON and WR/LB SALE KEY drew attention with some great catches.
BLAZE WELCOMES FANS TO FANFEST ON JAN. 12
The Blaze will hold a Fanfest at the Delta Center, Thursday, January 12 from 4 until 8 p.m. Fans will have the opportunity to watch the team practice and see the field for the first time.
LEARNING THE ROPES
With a total of 13 rookies in camp, Blaze head coach/general manager DANNY WHITE has depended on the veterans to help in the teaching process.
"The speed of the game has been the biggest adjustment for me," said first-year OL/DL TEVITA OFAHENGAUE. "Veterans like BRYAN HENDERSON and HANS OLSEN have been great about providing guidance to us newer guys. I think we have really started to jell as a unit."
Line play continued to take steps forward as OL/DL SCOTT POSPISIL, OL/DL PAT HUGHES and potential All-Rookie Team candidate OL/DL GARRETT SMITH had solid days in practice.
LOOKING AHEAD TO DAY 5
The Blaze will be at the Delta Center for both sessions on Wednesday. The first session will be from 10 a.m. until noon while the second session will be from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Both sessions will be open to the media only.
