Blaze Bring Back Two Training Camp Players
March 19, 2012 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Utah Blaze News Release
SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze have been assigned WR Augustine Agyei and FB Michael Ward, the team announced today. Both players participated in training camp, but were reassigned when Utah made its final roster cuts.
"We wanted both of these guys on our roster when we broke training camp," said President & Head Coach Ron James. "Unfortunately, the numbers simply didn't allow that to happen. We're excited to bring back two players that know the system and can immediately contribute to our ball club"
Agyei (6-0, 185, Colorado State-Pueblo) was originally assigned to the Blaze after impressing the coaching staff during the team's open tryout in November of 2011. He displayed uncanny speed in that setting, running times of 4.25 and 4.31 in the 40-yard dash. Agyei was an All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference selection as a senior at CSU-Pueblo in 2009. He played in all 11 games and finished third in school single-season history with 1,261 all-purpose yards.
Ward (6-2, 305, Welsey College) is a veteran of indoor football that brings valuable experience from his time in the IFL as a member of the Allen Wranglers. He played defensive tackle at Wesley College, where he earned ACFC Defensive Player of the Year accolades as a senior after delivering seven sacks.
