Blaze Add Defensive Lineman TJ Raymond

SALT LAKE CITY -The Utah Blaze are pleased to announce the signing of DL TJ Raymond (6-3, 347, Northeastern State) to the 2011 roster. "TJ is a fine young player with a lot of potential," said Head Coach Ron James. "I'm looking forward to seeing him be apart of a strong defensive line this season."

Out of college, Raymond was originally offered a contract with the New York Jets, but later signed with the Washington Redskins.

He was a highly touted recruit out of high school and played one season at the University of North Texas before landing at Northeastern. In his first season at Northeastern, Raymond was an All-Lone Star Conference North Division second team selection for collecting 50.0 total tackles, including eight for a loss, two sacks, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.

In 2008, he was fourth on the team in tackles with 62.0 total tackles, including 13 for a loss, and five sacks, earning Lone Star Conference first- team accolades.

During his senior season in 2009, Raymond was a Lone Star Conference North Division first-team selection with 54.0 total tackles, three sacks and three forced fumbles.
