August 16, 2015 - American Association (AA) - Joplin Blasters News Release

Joplin, MO-The Blasters dropped consecutive series for the first time all season following a 4-0 defeat at the hands of the St. Paul Saints Sunday night at Joe Becker Stadium.

Joplin (42-36) is now tied for the wild-card lead in the American Association as Kansas City had its game at Sioux City postponed due to rain. The Blasters finished their six-game home stand against Rockland and St. Paul with a 1-5 record. With the win, the Saints (61-19) tied a franchise record for victories in a single season.

St. Paul took an early lead in the second. Angelo Songco led off the inning with a single to center. Ryan Lashley followed with a line-drive single to left. The next batter, Joey Paciorek, launched a line-drive home run deep to left for a 3-0 lead. It was Paciorek's fourth round-tripper of the season. The Saints added another run in the ninth for the game's final margin.

On the mound, Dustin Crenshaw posted the win for St. Paul. Crenshaw (13-2) threw his fifth complete game of the season as he worked all nine and scattered six hits with four strikeouts and no walks. It was also his third complete game shutout of the season. Reyes Dorado went the deepest any Joplin starter has all season in taking the loss. Dorado (1-2) lasted eight-and-two-thirds and gave up four runs (three earned) on seven hits with eight strikeouts and two walks. At the plate, Dan Kaczrowski led the Saints with a 3-for-4 night. Jairo Perez had two hits for the Blasters, including a double to the gap in right-center in the fifth.

After an off-day Monday, Joplin hits the road for a series at Gary SouthShore starting Tuesday night before heading off to Kansas City next weekend.
