Blast to Hold Pre-Game "White Castle Tailgate Party"

INDIANAPOLIS-The Indiana Blast partner with White Castle to offer the fourth annual "White Castle Tailgate Party" Friday night May 17th at the Indy Parks Kuntz Stadium located at 1502 West 16th Street. Gates will open at 6:30 when the party begins. White Castle will be providing hamburgers for those that come early. The Blast will kick off at 7:35pm against intra-division rival the Minnesota Thunder. The match is also the first of two Open Cup qualification games between these two teams.

LAST WEEK-The Blast (1-3-0) "Cut Down the Timbers" last Friday night as Blast forward Jeff Dresser scored the only goal of the match to give the Blast a 1-0 advantage over the Portland Timbers. Captain Dustin Ottesen found Dresser in the 55th minute before sliding the ball past Portland goalkeeper Matt Napoleon. The win gave the Blast their first victory of the 2002 season.

THIS WEEK-After taking the weekend off, the Blast are back at practice the entire week. Until the rain stops, the Blast will be practicing at Off the Wall, an indoor facility located in Carmel.

BLAST AWARDS-Two Blast players were nominated to USL (United Soccer Leagues) teams of the week for their performance in last Fridays win against Portland. Forward Jeff Dresser was nominated to the "Golden Boots" team for his game winning goal and goalkeeper Josh Lynk was nominated to the "Clean Sheets" team for posting a shut-out.

UPCOMING MATCHES-The Blast play host to the Minnesota Thunder this Friday, May 17th at 7:35pm at Kuntz Memorial Stadium located at 1502 W. 16th Street. It's "White Castle Tailgate Party" night, so come early. The Blast are home again on Tuesday, June 4th at 7:35pm against the Vancouver Whitecaps.

RECENT SIGNINGS-The Blast have recently signed local talent Myron Vaughn for the 2002 season. The Pike High School graduate played college soccer at the University of Cincinnati and spent the last season with the Cincinnati Riverhawks.

UPCOMING APPEARANCES-Blast players will be making two separate appearances this week. Several players will be attending "Lunch on the Circle" on Thursday, May 16th from 11am-1pm. Blast players will also be making an appearance at theBank One 500 Festival Kids' Day downtown on Saturday, May 18th from 11am-3pm.

UPCOMING CLINICS-The Blast will be holding a free clinic at Lake Castleton Apartments on Thursday, May 16th from 5:30pm-7pm. The clinic is open to all Lake Castleton Apartment residents.
