Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Greenville, SC - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, today announced Blair LaMarche as the team's new athletic trainer. LaMarche takes over for Shay McGlynn, who joined the AHL's Texas Stars in July.
LaMarche, 44, has been employed by the Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital System in its Sports Medicine Department since 2007 and served as Greenville's athletic trainer for part of the team's inaugural season in 2010-11. Previously, LaMarche spent two years as an athletic trainer with the Greenville Health System, where he provided medicine coverage to all sports teams at North Greenville University. He also served as the strength and conditioning coach for men's basketball and taught physical education classes at North Greenville.
"I'm thrilled to be back working in hockey and with the team," LaMarche said. "I am looking forward to working with the coaches and players and beginning an exciting season with the Swamp Rabbits."
A native of Shawano, Wisconsin, LaMarche attended Florida International University as a graduate assistant from 2003-2005, and earned a Master's of Science degree in advanced athletic training and human performance. During that span, he worked closely with Cooper City High School as their athletic trainer and also served as a clinical education coordinator.
Prior to his career in sports medicine, LaMarche earned a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise physiology from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay in 1994. He received a Post Graduate degree in athletic training from Wisconsin Green Bay in 1999 while also serving as the head strength and conditioning coach.
