Blades Sweep Ice Pilots With 4-2 Win

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (15-6-7) defeated the Pensacola Ice Pilots (14-11-4) 4-2 for the third straight night in front of a crowd of 5,981 at TECO Arena on Sunday night. With the win, Florida moved into a tie for second place in the ECHL's Southeast Division. Florida forward Joe Blaznek scored one goal and picked up an assist in the win.
In the first period, the Ice Pilots struck first on a goal off the stick of forward Trevor Allman at the 7:17 mark of the period. The Everblades came right back when forward Keith Anderson notched a rebound goal at the 7:55 mark of the period. Florida then took a 2-1 lead after Joe Blaznek slipped the puck past Pensacola netminder Bryan Eklund.
The Ice Pilots then tied the game at 2-2 in the second period when forward Gregor Baumgartner tucked home his eleventh goal of the season. The Everblades then took a 3-2 lead on a goal by rookie forward Laurent Meunier.
Florida added an empty net goal late in the third period by George Awada to seal the Everblades third straight win against Pensacola in as many nights.
Florida goaltender Rob Zepp (11-3-4) stopped 24 of 26 shots he faced while Pensacola netminder Bryan Eklund (3-3-0) stopped 23 of 26 shots. The Everblades were 1 for 4 on the power play while the Ice Pilots were 0 for 3.
Florida hits the road next week to battle the Greenville Grrrowl on Friday and Saturday night at 7:05 PM. The Blades then travel to Pee Dee to play the Pride at 2:30 PM on Sunday.
