Blackhawks Assign Nordstrom to Rockford

Chicago, Ill. - The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have assigned forward Joakim Nordstrom (JOH-keem NORD-struhm) to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

Nordstrom, 21, has scored one goal in eight games this season with the Blackhawks. The Stockholm, Sweden, native scored his first-career National Hockey League goal on Oct. 11 vs. the New York Islanders.

The rookie pivot joined the IceHogs briefly last season, following his third campaign with AIK of the Swedish Elite League. In 11 games with the IceHogs in 2012-13, Nordstrom notched three assists, 12 penalty minutes and a plus/minus rating of +2.

Nordstrom was drafted by the Blackhawks in the third round (#90 overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Next Home Game: Saturday, Oct. 26 vs. Charlotte Checkers at 3 p.m. The first 5,000 fans to the BMO will receive a 2013-14 IceHogs magnet schedule compliments of T6 Broadband. Fans are also invited to come dressed for Halloween as the IceHogs will be hosting a Trick-or-Treat version of "Skate with the Hogs" following the game.
