November 14, 2016 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
New England Black Wolves News Release
Uncasville, Conn. - The New England Black Wolves will open training camp for the 2017 season beginning on November 18th.
"We are very excited for the 2017 NLL Season to get underway," Black Wolves General Manager Rich Lisk said. "After tasting success and making it to the Eastern Finals last year, our goal this season is to make it to the Champions Cup. That road begins this weekend."
To kick off the weekend, the Black Wolves will hold an open tryout for players in conjunction with the Boston Box Lacrosse League, at South Shore Sports Center in Hingham, Mass., - the home of the BBLL - on Friday, November 18 at 9:30 p.m. A total of 39 players from as far away as Texas and Michigan will attend.
Players will be evaluated at the Friday-night session, with the most promising prospects invited to spend the rest of the weekend - beginning on Saturday - working with the Black Wolves in hopes of making the team or the practice squad for 2017.
On Saturday, all players will participate in preseason physicals and photos before heading off to the first training session of the year. That will take place at Insports Centers in Trumbull, and it is open to the public. Players will be available for autographs and photo opportunities at 7 p.m., and practice will run from 8-10 p.m. and is open to the public.
Entering their third season in New England, the Black Wolves enjoyed one of the biggest turnarounds in NLL history last year, finishing 10-8 under first-year coach Glenn Clark. New England went on to defeat the Georgia Swarm in the first round of the playoffs before falling to Buffalo in the East Division Finals.
Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting blackwolves.com or calling 844-LAX-WOLF.
