New England Black Wolves News Release
UNCASVILLE, Conn. (September 19, 2014) - The New England Black Wolves announced that James Milligan will return for his second season as offensive coordinator while Tracey Kelusky will serve as the defensive coordinator on the staff of head coach Blane Harrison.
"I am extremely excited for the upcoming 2015 season," Milligan said. "New arena, new city, new owners and new key players to the team...I'm very confident we can build on our positives from last season and continue the momentum in our new home."
A native of Peterborough, Ontario, Milligan worked for three years as assistant coach for the Edmonton Rush and also served as an assistant coach with both the Chicago Shamrox and the Toronto Rock.
"We are excited to have Milly back for another season," Harrison said. "He brings a plethora of knowledge to our offensive game as witnessed by our offensive increase from the year before."
Kelusky is making the transition from player to coach this year, stepping into the role of defensive coordinator after a long and distinguished lacrosse career.
"Deciding to retire was an extremely difficult and emotional decision," Kelusky said. "The opportunity to continue on as a coach and stay involved in the sport I love and a game that has afforded me so much has definite made the decision a lot easier. I'm truly honored and very excited about this new chapter in my lacrosse career."
Kelusky starred at the University of Hartford where he made his mark in the NCAA record books by scoring 59 goals in 14 games during the 2000 season. After a storied college career Kelusky joined the NLL in the 2000-2001 season with the Columbus Landsharks and was named the NLL Rookie of the Year. He was also the MVP of the 2005 National Lacrosse League All-Star Game. In December of 2013, Kelusky was acquired by the Philadelphia Wings as a free agent.
"We are excited to have Tracey join our staff," Harrison said. "This is the perfect transition for Tracey and us as Tracey will be adding a unique and fresh perspective to our staff. When you look at Tracey's success in the outdoor and indoor game, and the fact that he coaches the defense on his Junior A team, this was the perfect marriage for us."
The Black Wolves open the season January 2, 2015, hosting the Buffalo Bandits at 7 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit www.blackwolves.com or call 844.LAX.WOLF (529.9653). Deposits are currently being taken for season tickets, groups and mini-plans.
