Black Wolves Acquire Billings in Exchange for Crowley

New England Black Wolves News Release
UNCASVILLE, Conn. (March 31, 2015) - The New England Black Wolves have acquired Garrett Billings from the Toronto Rock in exchange for Kevin Crowley.
"Obviously this is a pretty significant trade," Black Wolves head coach Blane Harrison said. "For our organization to move forward to where we need to go, we made a very difficult decision to part ways with a very talented young man. Kevin Crowley was our No. 1 pick not that long ago, but we received a bona fide 100-point per year scorer. Although it is somewhat with a heavy heart that we part with Kevin, we have to look forward and going after one of the premier players in the game today made sense."
The first player with three consecutive 100 plus point seasons in NLL history, Billings has recorded 483 points (158 goals and 315 assists) in five seasons. The sixth overall pick by the Toronto Rock in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft, the forward captured a Champion's Cup in 2011 with the Rock. A two-time NLL All-Star in 2011 and 2012, Billings was selected to the NLL All-Pro team in 2012 after setting an NLL record for assists in a season (82) and a Toronto franchise record for points in a season (114). He was also a First Team All-Pro in 2013. He missed the 2014 season due to injury.
A two-time All-American at the University of Virginia, Billings wrapped up his collegiate career with 206 points (125 goals and 91 assists) in 69 games. He won a silver medal with Team Canada at the 2010 FIL World Lacrosse Championships and two Minto Cups in 2004 and 2005 with the Burnaby Lakers.
Crowley had 52 points on 19 goals and 33 assists in 10 games for New England this season. Selected No. 1 overall in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Wings, Crowley recorded 270 points in his career for the franchise, including a single-season best 75 on 33 goals and 42 assists in 2014.
The Black Wolves return to action on Friday, April 3rd when they travel to Minnesota to play the Swarm at 8:30 p.m. ET. New England will next play at home on Sunday, April 12th at 1 p.m. against the Vancouver Stealth.
