Sioux Falls Storm News Release
Omaha, NE- The 2005 UIF National Champions, the Sioux Falls Storm, would like to welcome back last year's team captain, Mark Blackburn. This defensive specialist led the Storm in tackles last season and came up just a few short to Evansville's Connie Brown to take second in the league in total tackles with 97.5 on the 2005 season. Mark only needs a few more in the 2006 season to stake his claim as the all-time leading tackler in Storm history. Click here to listen to more on Mark Blackburn.
The Storm etched their place in indoor football lore with a thrilling last second win over Sioux City in United Bowl I; A pretty impressive feat for a team that struggled through the regular season, and had to play all its playoff games on the road. As a team, the Storm was consistently strong in overall defense and offense, including the leagues second best passing attack in 2005 en route to an 11-8 overall record including the playoff run.
Even more impressive is the team's ability to sell out the Sioux Falls Arena on a consistent basis. With a packed house of more than 5 thousand Storm fans, this truly is the Storm shelter.
Sioux Falls is lead by Kurtiss Riggs, a native son who quarterbacked at the University of Sioux Falls, as well as with the former Cobras and the Storm.
