
Black Hawks Earn Weekend Split

Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
The Waterloo Black Hawks hockey team faced their biggest weekend to date in the regular season as they hosted the Danville Wings and traveled to Green Bay to face the Gamblers. Waterloo earned a weekend split with a 2-1 victory over the Wings on Friday, and dropped a 2-1 decision to Green Bay on Saturday.
Friday January 23, 2004- Waterloo 2 Danville 1
The Black Hawks picked up a key Eastern Division win over the Danville Wings 2-1 at Young Arena. Waterloo jumped out to a 1-0 lead mid-way through the first on a Jake Schwan (Clifton Park, NY) rebound goal. Danville tied the contest minutes later with a power play tally to tie the game at one after one.
Both teams skated a scoreless second period to remained tied heading into the third. Waterloo scored the game-winning goal just 26 seconds into the third, courtesy of Mike Radja (Yorkville, IL). Kevin Regan (South Boston, MA) held up the one goal lead stopping 19-20 shots in the win in net. The victory brought Waterloo within in four points of third place Danville.
Saturday January 24, 2004- Green Bay 2 Waterloo 1
Waterloo traveled to the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Saturday with a chance to increase their lead over the Gamblers to six points. The Black Hawks held a 1-0 lead heading into the third, but couldn't withstand the Green Bay push as the Gamblers scored a pair of goals three and a half minutes apart in the third to earn the 2-1 win. Zach Bearson (Naperville, IL) scored the Hawks lone goal as Waterloo was out shot 47-33 for the game. Kevin Regan stopped 45-47 for the loss in net.
Waterloo now faces a busy week, as they will play three games leading into the All-Star Break. Tuesday night, January 27th, the Hawks host the River City Lancers at 7:05 PM. It will be $2 Tuesday as all tickets are two dollars off and beer, brats, and walking tacos are also just $2. The Box Office will be open all week from 11:30- 5:30 every night. Friday night the Hawks will then host the Sioux Falls Stampede in a 7:05 PM face-off before heading to Sioux City to take on the Musketeers on Saturday.
