Record Breaker - Lincoln goaltender Phillippe Lamoureux eclipsed Wayne Russell as the Stars' all-time winningest goalie on Friday with a victory over Des Moines. The win was the 58th of his career.
Making Moves - Green Bay has won two games in a row over division rivals. What's more, the Gamblers are 6-3-1 over their last ten. Those factors have Green Bay back in the playoff hunt, trailing Waterloo by just two points and Danville by only six points.
Mick's Slick - River City's Mick Lawrence has been hot of late with 16 points over his last nine games.
Musketeers Win - Sioux City climbed into second place over the weekend and pushed its winning streak to six. The Muskies have won four road games in a row.
Stifling - Tri-City is allowing a league-low 23.97 shots per game. Not surprisingly, the Storm also has the league's best penalty kill, currently functioning at 91.1 percent.
Wall - Sioux City goalie Jeff Lantz, the USHL's GAA leader, turned aside a league-high seven shootout attempts in the Musketeers' 4-3 win over Des Moines on Saturday.
Good Things - Tri-City's Bill Thomas is tied with teammate Rastislav Spirko for the USHL lead in gamewinning goals with six. He is also the USHL's leader in plus/minus at +20.
USHL Quotable with...
Newly-acquired Lincoln forward Dan Riedel on the USHL experience and how it compares to other development leagues in the U.S. (as told to Mark Derowitsch, Lincoln Journal Star):
"If I'd been here and saw what is was like, I would have been here in a heartbeat. It took me a year and a half to realize I needed to be (in the USHL) in order to get better."
LPH/USHL Offensive Player of the Week:
Bill Thomas -- TRI-CITY STORM
Thomas (Pittsburgh, Pa.), the league's second-leading goal scorer, earned Offensive Player of the Week honors with a solid two-goal, fourassist week. One of his two goals was a game-winner. He also posted a plus-minus rating of plus-4 for the week. Honorable mention goes to Bryan Horan (Cedar Rapids), Jim McKenzie (Sioux Falls), and Brent Cummings (St. Louis).
LPH/USHL Defensive Player of the Week:
Troy Davenport -- GREEN BAY GAMBLERS
Davenport (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) earned Defensive Player of the Week honors with two outstanding performances in goal for the resurgent Gamblers. Davenport was 2-0 with a 1.00 goalsagainst average and a .971 saves percentage for the week. Honorable mention goes to Johann Kroll (Sioux City), Zach Miskovic (Cedar Rapids) and Michael Zacharias (St. Louis).
