WATERLOO, IOWA - Nick Swaney scored on a two-on-one rush in the third period to tally the game's lone goal as the Waterloo Black Hawks (39-15-2-2, 82 pts.) shut out the Chicago Steel (37-16-2-3, 79 pts.) Tuesday night at Young Arena. Waterloo netminder Robbie Beydoun tied the USHL lead with his fifth shutout of the season, stopping all 28 Chicago shots.

Swaney's goal was the only of 32 shots fired by the Black Hawks to get past Steel netminder Dayton Rasmussen.

In the second period, Chicago had arguably its best scoring opportunity denied by Beydoun in the second period. Jake Jaremko rang a shot from just inside the blue line that clanked off the right post. Beydoun fell on the puck to deny entry. The goal light came on, but the referee immediately signaled no goal, and maintained that decision after a brief review.

Just under five minutes into the third period, Swaney broke the scoreless tie. Ohrvall and Swaney entered on an odd-man rush, and a pass from the left wing connected to Swaney, who fired a shot over Rasmussen's glove. It was Swaney's 24th goal of the season.

Beydoun stood his ground against the Steel, denying all 11 Chicago shots in the third period to secure the victory.

The Steel finished the season series 1-2-0-0 against the Black Hawks, with the home team victorious in each contest. The loss marked the second time this season the Steel were kept off the scoreboard.
