Corvallis: Mitchell Walding (St. Mary's HS/ Phillies Draft Pick) started out a pivotal series for the Cowlitz Black Bears with a bang. His solo home run, his first of the summer, in the second inning had the team looking up about their chances against the Corvallis Knights, who lead the West Division. The Black Bears added a run in the third on an RBI single by Beau Didier (LSU) that scored Kyle Garlick (University of Oregon).
The Corvallis Knights rallied with two out in the 7th inning, earning three consecutive walks to end the night for Bears starter Porter Clayton (University of Oregon). Two more walks and a two-run single gave the Knights the win.
The teams will face off tomorrow at 6:35 pm from Story Field for a two game set. Its Applebee's Saturday at the Park, and Black Bears Trading Card Night presented by Mr. C's Photography. The first 100 kids into the stadium will receive a pack of cards filled with their Black Bears players.
