Black Bears Lose to Corvallis, Big Crowd at Home
July 23, 2011 - West Coast League (WCL)
Cowlitz Black Bears News Release
The Cowlitz Black Bears struggled throughout the game, and the Corvallis Knights took advantage. Four errors led to runs, and a big second inning set the tone for the rest of the ballgame.
Beau Didier (LSU) went one-for-three with a walk at the plate and was the only Black Bear to reach base more than once. Billy Flamion had a double and scored in the sixth inning, but could get no farther as the Knights' pitchers consistently spoiled would-be rallies.
Grahamm Wiest (Cal St. Fullerton) took the loss for the Black Bears, but pitched well outside of the one big Corvallis inning and saved the bullpen by getting through the 6th. In relief, Ian Ekery (University of Missouri) pitched two scoreless innings.
Cowlitz will look to take the last game of the series tomorrow on Elder Options and Kids Club Senior Sunday. All members of the Cold Stone Creamery Kids Club receive free admission, and seniors get a $2 discount on tickets. The first pitch is at 5:05 from Story Field in the team's last game before the All-Star break.
