ODENTON, MD - The Maryland Black Bears lost to the Jamestown Rebels 3-1 Saturday night. As a result, the Black Bears split the weekend series with the Rebels after a dominating win Friday. In the NAHL East Division, the Black Bears are now in 6th place with a 5-7-0 record.
The first period proved to be a stalemate. Jamestown outshot the Black Bears 16 to 15. Black Bears Goalie Andrew Takacs stood strong in the net deflecting each Rebel shot. Rebels' Defenseman Tristan Culleton was charged with a 10-minute misconduct, yet the Black Bears were never able to capitalize.
Action picked up in the second period. The Rebels came out firing with two unanswered goals. Valentino Passarelli scored the first goal of the game with Noah Finstrom and Seth Bergeron setting him up. The second goal came from Valerii Rykov with assists from Valentino Passarelli and Liam Hansson.
The Jamestown Rebels momentum continued into the third period. Noah Finstrom lit the lamp with help from Marshall Walker and Nate Clark. Maryland Black Bears Forward Aidan McDowell stopped the drought to finish the game up. Forwards Filip Jakobsson and Wilmer Skoog helped convert the score on a power play.
