Maryland Black Bears News Release
ODENTON, MD - The Maryland Black Bears were busy over the last weekend before the NAHL draft. Jack Hillman (D,'01), Bryden Sinclair (D, '01), and Ethan Heidepriem (F, '00) all signed tenders. Veteran Defenseman Luc Salem was also traded to the Topeka Pilots for an additional tender. These final three tenders officially close out the remaining 2018-19 tenders for the Black Bears.
"We wish Luc nothing but the best in Topeka," said Maryland Black Bears Head Coach Clint Mylymok. "He was a great ambassador for the Black Bears in year one, and we cannot thank him enough for the leadership, effort, and class he brought to our program."
Jack Hillman, a 6', 175-pound Defenseman, previously played for the Omaha Lancers in the USHL. The Indianapolis, Indiana native played 23 games in the United States Hockey League (USHL) after being called up from the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (U18) in the High-Performance Hockey League (HPHL).
"Jack is an intelligent, skilled defenseman who makes a strong first pass, and defends very well," said Coach Mylymok. "He gained some solid junior hockey experience during his time in Omaha. We believe he can be a top minute defenseman for the Black Bears and look forward to seeing him in Odenton!"
Bryden Sinclair is a 6', 185-pound Defenseman from Peguis, Canada. Most recently, Sinclair played for the OCN Blizzard in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL). The blueliner had 5 goals and 21 assists in 60 games during the 2018-19 season.
"Bryden is another young defenseman with Junior 'A' experience," said Mylymok. "He can do a bit of everything with a focus in penalty kills and getting up ice to help out offensively. He's a very strong skater, competes hard, and we feel he can play any style of hockey needed to be successful. We welcome Bryden to Maryland and Black Bear Nation should be excited to have him!"
Finally, Ethan Heidepriem, a 5'10" 170-pound Forward, played for the Pembroke Lumber Kings in the Capital Corridor Hockey league (CCHL) last year. Heidepriem scored 4 goals and had 10 assists in 21 games last season. The talented Forward was born and raised in Findlay, Ohio.
"Ethan has tons of potential, lots of skill, and already has Junior 'A' experience," Mylymok continued. "He is the type of player that will add offensive depth to our lineup, provide an offensive surge on the power play, and make his line-mates better. We are excited to add Ethan to the Maryland Black Bear Family!"
