August 9, 2011 - West Coast League (WCL)
Cowlitz Black Bears News Release

Cowlitz Black Bears' right-hander Jeff Gold (Oregon) threw his fourth complete game of the season Monday night at Corvallis. That's a new West Coast League record, breaking the mark of three complete games set last season by Ben Guidos of the Bend Elks.

Record For Free Passes Tied By Cowlitz Catcher Braxton Miller

Some players have the knack, while others don't. Braxton Miller (Lewis-Clark State) has the knack of getting walks. The Cowlitz Black Bears catcher has 36 walks, tieing the league record set last season by Clayton Eslich of the Wenatchee AppleSox. Miller has two games in which to set a new record.

The team returns to Story Field for the final game of the season on Wednesday, August 10th against the Corvallis Knights. The game should have playoff implications. It will be the final Burgerville Family Night, with 4 tickets, 4 sodas, and 4 hot dogs for only $28. It will also be Fan Appreciation Night, with tons of big-ticket prizes (such as a gas grill or a fishing trip) given away all game long.
