Cowlitz Black Bears News Release
Longview-Kelso: June 15, 2011: In the last contest of a six-game homestand, the Cowlitz Black Bears' defensive miscues allowed the Wenatchee AppleSox to push their winning streak to eleven games.
The Black Bears managed eight hits on the night, with seven in the previous two games more than doubling their total in the series. They managed two runs, both off of AppleSox starter Jackson Goulder.
Kyle Garlick (University of Oregon) led the way at the plate for the home team and continued his hot streak, with three hits, including the team's second triple of the series. Brent Graham (LCC) was back in the lineup and contributed with a two-for-three effort on offense and a handful of sure-handed assists in an otherwise sloppy game.
The team travels on a six game road trip to Kelowna and Bellingham before returning to Story Field on Thursday, June 23rd against the Kelowna Falcons. Be sure to take advantage of Thirsty Thursday, where beer on tap will be just $2. Longview Fibre will present Ball Night - the first 400 kids 14 and younger will receive a logo baseball. Also, those with a college ID or wearing a college t-shirt or sweatshirt will get a $2 discount on general admission tickets.
