Black Bears Flip Script, Blank Rebels 3-0

Maryland Black Bears News Release
A night after the Maryland Black Bears were shutout out 1-0 by the Philadelphia Rebels despite a great offensive effort, the Black Bears looked to bounce back and capitalize on chances they couldn't the night before. This time around they did just that, blanking Philadelphia 3-0 for the Saturday night win.
Maryland forward Christian Catalano got the scoring started by burying a rebound in the slot to make it 1-0. The Black Bears were on a six-on-five advantage after a delayed call against Philadelphia and used the extra man to work the puck around to forward and captain Brad McNeil who put the puck on goal. Catalano got the rebound and snapped it past the glove of Rebels' goalie Jakub Krbecek. The scoring was silent until the third period, where Maryland forward Samuel Stitz let a wrist shot go as he entered the zone to the top left corner for a 2-0 lead. Black Bears defenseman Luke Van Why sealed the deal with an empty net goal from in front of his own bench to make it 3-0, a score that would hold to be the final. Maryland goalie William Hakansson recorded 22 saves for his fourth shutout on the season, setting the single-season Black Bears record for shutouts in a season. This shutout also ties him for the most shutouts in franchise history by a single goalie.
The Black Bears hit the road on March 3rd for a weekend series against the Northeast Generals and then the following weekend March 10th against the New Jersey Titans. Maryland returns home the weekend of March 17th against the Johnstown Tomahawks. All games can be streamed on HockeyTV.
