Black Bears Fall to Kelowna 11-3

June 14, 2012 - West Coast League (WCL)
Cowlitz Black Bears News Release

Kelowna: The Kelowna Falcons put together a couple of big innings to defeat the Cowlitz Black Bears 11-3 Thursday night and drop the Black Bears league record to 3-5.

After the Black Bears temporarily tied the game, a three-run second inning pushed Kelowna ahead 4-1. From there, it was back and forth until Kelowna scored five in the bottom of the seventh to make the game 11-2.

The Black Bears got their first run of the game in the third when Ben Swinford (Cornell) hit his first home run as a member of the Black Bears; coincidentally, it came in his return to the ballpark he played his home games in last summer as a member of the Falcons. Austin Wobrock (Orange Coast) scored an unearned run in the fifth inning and Tyler Madrid (Santa Ana) completed the scoring with an RBI single in the ninth.

The Black Bears next home game is against the Corvallis Knights on Tuesday, June 19. It will be Azteca $2 Tuesday where general admission tickets, hot dogs, soda, and beer are all $2 apiece.
