Berkshire Black Bears News Release
PITTSFIELD- The Berkshire Black Bears put together 10 hits on the night but only plated 4 of them in their second loss in as many nights to the Brockton Rox. The final score was 9-4. All 4 of the runs were charged to Rox starting pitcher Mike Marchesano who went 7 2/3 innings allowing 9 hits while striking out 4 and walking 2.
The Black bears got on the board in the second inning when left fielder Chris Sawyer doubled. Shortstop Todd Brock's single then moved Sawyer to third and second baseman David Valdez walked to load the bases. Catcher Ryan Smith then doubled home Sawyer and Brock and moved Valdez to third. Outfielder Curtis Goodwin singled scoring Valdez and moving Smith to third.
The other Black Bear run came in the eighth inning when Joe Kerrigan scored from third when Chris Sawyer hit into a double play. The Black Bears take on the Rox for the final game of the series at Wahconah Park tomorrow night at 7:05.
