PITTSFIELD-The Berkshire Black Bears coming off a powerful win on Monday night against the Adirondack Lumberjacks could not get started on Tuesday night. A strong pitching performance from Mike Zipser held the Black Bears to just 6 hits in the 10-1 loss.
Black Bears starter Trad Sokol kept his knuckleball going through the 5th inning giving up 5 runs on 7 hits and 1 walk. He struck out 2. Reliever Alex Lelless came for Sokol but didn't fare much better. He was roughed up for 5 more runs while giving up 6 hits and walking 4. He struck out 1.
The Black Bears connected for a total of 6 hits on the night with Curtis Goodwin, Joe Kerrigan, Chris Vasquez, Chris Sawyer and Ryan Mendoza hitting singles. Ryan Smith had the only extra base hit on the night, a double in the 2nd inning.
The Black Bears host the Lumberjacks at Wahconah Park Wednesday night for the final game of the series. The game will be followed by fireworks.
