Berkshire Black Bears News Release

Pittsfield-The Berkshire Black Bears announced today the creation of their 2003 Bonus Book Program. The Berkshire Black Bears Bonus Book consists of six Grandstand tickets valued at $5 each. The books will sell for $25 with half the money going to local charities. Fans can purchase the Bonus Books directly from the Black Bears with 50% of the money going the United Way of the Berkshires. Local organizations and groups that choose to take part in the program by selling the Bonus Books will be able to keep 50% of the money raised.

Black Bears President/General Manager Mike Kardamis said, "We believe we have found a way to help raise money for local charities and increase attendance at Wahconah Park at the same time. What we are looking for now is groups to sell the Bonus Books and raise money for their organization." Kardamis added that the Bonus Book program would return more money to local organizations than the average fund raising programs. "Most programs that have groups selling candy bars or magazine subscriptions only return about 30% if they sell enough, we are offering 50% no matter how many they sell."

The Black Bears are also looking for local businesses willing to offer the Bonus Books with the business deciding which local charity or non-profit organization to donate the proceeds too. "It's another way for us to give back to the community," said Kardamis. "The Bonus Books make great Christmas gifts for any sports fan and will help raise money for some very worthwhile organizations at the same time." For more information or to sign up for the program, interested parties can call the Berkshire Black Bears at 413-448-BALL (2255).
