Today's Games
Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Pawtucket Red Sox in a doubleheader to begin a four-game set from McCoy Stadium (Game 1 5:35 p.m.). The Herd is coming off a series split at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Following this series, the Bisons return home Monday for an eight-game homestand against Gwinnett and Durham.
vs. the PawSox
The Bisons are 3-1 against the PawSox this season. Buffalo won a four-game set at Coca-Cola Field, April 23-26. Three of the four games were decided by four or more runs. The Bisons were 5-3 against the PawSox at McCoy Stadium in 2012.
Today's Starters
LHP RICKY ROMERO will make his seventh start for the Bisons tonight. He allowed three runs in 5.2 innings of a no-decision on Friday against the IronPigs. RHP JUSTIN GERMANO gets the ball in game two. The righty is coming off back-to-back quality starts, including an eight-strikeout performance on June 2 to beat the Tides in Norfolk.
You can't have just one
Tonight's doubleheader is already the Bisons' seventh this season. The Herd still has four more twinbills on the schedule with two each against Syracuse and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The most doubleheaders the Bisons have had in one season since 1988 was the 14 they played and completed in 2000. Buffalo is 7-5 in doubleheader games this season.
Road and Division Warriors
The Bisons are 20-14 on the road this season. Included in that record for Buffalo is a 12-5 record in road divisional games. The Bisons have 20 wins within their division, three more than any other IL North team.
Mauro Hits it Far-O
INF MAURO GOMEZ has 17 home runs of the season, two more than any player in the IL. Gomez also has the 3rd-highest slugging percentage (.602) in the league. Fourteen of his 17 home runs this season have come on the road.
Bisons Bits
INF JIM NEGRYCH (.352) and INF LUIS JIMENEZ (.348) are the top two left-handed hitters in the International League...INF MIKE McCOY leads the Bisons with 13 stolen bases. He has only been caught three times...The Bisons' 74 home runs are nine more than any IL club...INF LUIS JIMENEZ is 2nd in the IL with 54 RBI this year.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (29-36) beat the Rangers, 3-1, on Thursday in the first game of their four-game set. RHP ESMIL RODGERS allowed just one run over seven innings to run his record to 2-2. Toronto has now won five of their last seven games. The Blue Jays take on the Rangers tonight at 8:05 p.m.
