Buffalo Bisons News Release

TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Columbus Clippers in the first game of a four-game series at Cooper Stadium (7:05 p.m.). This will be the start of an eight-game roadtrip as the Herd will also be in Toledo, May 26-29. The Bisons had a scheduled off-day on Wednesday following a 4-4 homestand against Pawtucket and Lehigh Valley. On the mound tonight will be LHP Jeremy Sowers. The southpaw last pitched on Friday with the Cleveland Indians and earned a no-decision with five innings of work in Cincinnati (5H, 3R, 3R, 2BB, 2K). Columbus will counter with LHP Mike O'Connor.

VS. COLUMBUS: This is the Bisons first match-up with the Clippers this year. Last year, the Herd went 6-2 against Columbus, including a four-game sweep at Cooper Stadium, April 13-16. In that season-series, Buffalo outscored the Clippers, 39-19.

SWEET AND SOWERS: LHP Jeremy Sowers is back with the Herd following his second spot start with the Tribe this year. The southpaw is undefeated in his last five starts with the Bisons, going 2-0 with a 1.57ERA since April 16 (28.2IP, 23H, 5R, 5ER, 10BB, 19K). His 2.21ERA on the season is the fourth lowest mark in the International League.

"ALL ABOARD": OF Shin-Soo Choo seems to have his swing back after having "Tommy John" surgery last September. Choo began his Major League rehab assignment on May 14 and is now 6 for his last 12 at the plate (.500). On Tuesday against the IronPigs, Choo went 3-5 with his first home run of the season. Choo was limited to 59 games last year due to injury.

ROSTER MOVES: RHP Oneli Perez was officially added to the Bisons roster on Wednesday. The reliever was claimed off of Chicago-AL waivers following 14 games with Charlotte this year (0-1, 9.53)(17.0IP, 28H, 18R, 18ER, 9BB, 19K). To make roster room for him and for LHP Jeremy Sowers returning from Cleveland, the Bisons transferred RHP Bubbie Buzachero (1-2, 4.42ERA, 9G) to Double-A Akron and released LHP Jason Stanford (1-3, 3.90ERA, 6G).

BISONS BITS: INF Ryan Mulhern is 15 for his last 36 at the plate, good for a .417 average over his last 10 games...INF Josh Barfield hit 6 doubles on the homestand. He's now tied for 5th in the International League with 13 doubles on the season...OF Jason Tyner is still riding a 10-game hit streak he had prior to his big league promotion on May 11 (.353, 12-34).
