Tonight's Game

Tonight, the Bisons face the Syracuse Chiefs in the third game of a four-game series at NBT Bank Stadium (7:06 p.m.). The Herd was shutout by the Chiefs last night, 7-0. Buffalo has won 10 of its last 13 games and now trails Syracuse by seven games in the IL North division.

vs. Syracuse

The Bisons are 4-6 against the Chiefs this year with the teams splitting the four games that have been played at NBT Bank Stadium. The Bisons were 11-5 against Syracuse last year, including a perfect 8-0 at the Chiefs' home ballpark.

Aaron Sanchez

RHP AARON SANCHEZ is 0-1 with a 4.73 ERA in his first three starts at Triple-A. The righty last pitched on June 25 and struck out a seven batters in 4.1 innings of work. He allowed just one run on three hits in a no-decision. Sanchez is rated by Baseball America as the #1 prospect in the Blue Jays system.

Brett Cecil

LHP BRETT CECIL joins the Herd on an MLB injury rehabilitation assignment. Cecil has been on the DL since June 19 with a strained left groin. In 32 games with Toronto this year, the lefty is 0-3 with a 3.76 ERA and three saves in 26.1 innings of work. Before the injury he ranked near the top of the AL relievers with 36 strikeouts.

Roster Move

LHP ROB RASMUSSEN has been activated to the team following his second stint with Toronto. The southpaw has a 2.63 ERA in 19 appearances for the Bisons this season. RHP AUSTIN BIBENS-DIRKX has been transferred to Double-A New Hampshire.

Mr. D.J.

INF DAN JOHNSON was the last player in the IL to not be in the starting line up for every one of his team's game. Johnson started at cleanup in each of the Herd's first 80 games. He came into last night's contest as a defensive replacement for his IL-best 81st appearance. Johnson continues to lead the league in home runs with 16.

Pillar of Strength

OF KEVIN PILLAR has 12 multi-hit performances in his last 21 games with the Bisons. Since the start of May, Pillar has averaged .384 (43-112) with 13 doubles and 15 RBI in just 28 games. His 21 doubles on the season are second most in the International League.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (45-39) lost their series finale to the White Sox yesterday, 4-0. The Jays are off today. Toronto will host Milwaukee in a two-game series starting with a Canada Day afternoon start Tuesday at 1:07 p.m. The team will then head to the west coast to face Oakland on Thursday.
