TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Pawtucket Red Sox in the first game of a four-game series from McCoy Stadium (7:05 p.m.). Today's game starts the second half of the season for the Herd. The Bisons entered the All-Star break on a four-game winning streak and are now in 4th place in the International League North division (46-45).
vs. PAWSOX: The Bisons are 2-6 against the Red Sox this season. Pawtucket swept four straight from the Herd the last time the two teams met, June 14-17 at Coca-Cola Field. The last time Buffalo was at McCoy Stadium was the first two games of the season, April 5-6, with each team getting a win.
HUGE HEFNER : RHP JEREMY HEFNER will make his eighth start of the season tonight. After a more than month-long stint with the Mets, Hefner return to the Bisons last week. On July 5, the righty tossed four shutout innings of relief in a 9-8 victory over Syracuse in 14 innings.
LUTZ RETURNS: INF ZACH LUTZ is back with the Herd, having been promoted from Single-A St. Lucie today. Lutz hit .250 (5-20) for St. Lucie after missing 49 games on the Bisons disabled list with a broken left hamate bone. Lutz has hit .307 (27-88) with three home runs and 13RBI so far this year.
ALL-STARS: All three Bisons All-Stars had great performances during All-Star Week in Buffalo. INF VALENTINO PASCUCCI won the Triple-A Home Run Derby on Monday night with 22 home runs and then went 1-1 with a double and three walks in the All-Star Game. RHP MATT HARVEY pitched two shutout innings for the IL last night and was named the league's "Top Star." RHP FERNANDO CABRERA struck out the only batter he faced.
BISONS BITS: OF MATT DEN DEKKER homered in back-to-back games before the All-Star break. He now has 14 home runs and 45RBI between Binghamton (AA) and Buffalo this year...OF ADAM LOEWEN has hit .467 (7-15) with two homers and seven RBI in four games since missing 61 games on the Bisons DL. The last time he faced Pawtucket (April 15), he hit two homers and drove in six...RHP MANNY ACOSTA has retired the first batter he's faced in all 12 of his games.
METS UPDATE : The Mets (46-40) are off tonight and will begin the second half of their season in Atlanta tomorrow night against the Braves. New York has placed Bisons LHP JOSH EDGIN on the 24-hour Taxi Squad and he will promoted before their game tomorrow. Edgin will be making his Major League debut.
