July 12, 2012 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

Following the All-Star Break, the IronPigs (52-39) start an eight-game, South Division road trip with Game One of a four-game against the second-place Norfolk Tides (47-45) at Harbor Park... With a 7-1 win in Game Two on Sunday to split a doubleheader in Rochester, the Pigs snapped a three-game losing skid and a five-game road losing streak. Despite dumping three of their last four games, the Pigs have gone 21-13 in their last 34 contests to go from 4.5-games out to 1.5-games up in the North... The Tides -- Baltimore's top affiliate -- lost 6-4 at Charlotte on Sunday, but have still won seven of their last nine affairs. In fact, since starting 21-31, the Tides have gone an impressive 26-14 since May 30.

RHP Scott Elarton (5-6, 5.10) will start for LHV against LHP Zach Britton (3-1, 4.87).

First-pitch tonight is 7:15 p.m.

LONG TIDE, NO SEE:

The Pigs will play Norfolk for the first time this season -- the only team they have yet to face in 2012. In fact, they'll face the Tides for eight games over the next 16 contests after not meeting for the first 91 games of the season. The teams last met 8/11/11 @ NOR.

BREAK DANCIN':

The Pigs finished at 52-39 before the All-Star Break -- their second-best mark at the break in LHV history (they were 53-37 in 2011). The Pigs have a 1.5-game lead in the North, also second-best behind the 3.5-game lead they built in 2011.

* In the 3 prior seasons, the Pigs at the break were 40-58, 21.5 GB (2008), 43-47, 9.0 GB (2009) and 37-64, 16.0 GB (2010).
