
Bishop earns NAHL Defensive Player of the Week

Goaltenders who stop a torrent of enemy shots rarely get overlooked but those who play behind strong defenses are often overlooked because of their light workload. Yet, scouts will tell you that the test of a good goalie when he has few stops to make because he must keep his focus and stop them all. Ben Bishop of the Texas Tornado is one of those goalies. This was a week of two more victories for Bishop, and although he faced only 28 Fairbanks shots over two games, he stopped all but one as the Tornado won a pair, and clinched the South Division title, helping Bishop earn selection as Sher-wood NAHL Defensive Player of the Week for Week 23. On Saturday, Bishop stopped 16 shots in an 8-0 shutout for his fifth shutout of the year, which is second in the NAHL. Bishop leads the NAHL in wins, is second in goals against average, and third in save percentage.
Runner-up: Jack Woglemuth, Wichita Falls defenseman, was a plus-3 on the weekend and on the ice for eight of the Wildcats goals.
