Birmingham Steel Announce Head Of Marketing

The Birmingham Steel of the Continental Basketball League are pleased to announce the hiring of Rodney Harris as their Director of Marketing. Owner Richard Ashmon made the announcement on Tuesday.

Harris, a native of Birmingham, AL, is a graduate of Central Park Christian High School. Harris attended Lawson State Community College, is currently a student at Southeastern Bible College and plays on the SEBC Men's Basketball team.

Harris has over ten years of marketing and public relations experience. Harris spent six years as a Marketing Assistant for Cox Radio where he set-up live remotes, managed outside promotions, and supervised all promotions staff and interns. Rodney also was the Marketing Director for "Just In Time Music", and for special events for the Birmingham Board of Education. With "Just in Time Music", Harris organized and planned outdoor festivals such as The Birmingham Heritage Festival and Battle of the Bands events all over the Southeast. As special events marketing director for the Board of Education Harris marketed sporting events as well as coordinating the planning and organized of all holiday tournaments.

Ashmon says of Harris's hiring, "Rodney brings a unique blend of experience to the Steel organization. Rodney's experience in radio and promotions will work very well with our goals and our fan base."

The Continental Basketball League is a five team semi-professional basketball league based in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The league has teams in Birmingham, Savannah, GA; Wilmington, NC; Marietta, GA and Fayetteville, NC. The league will play a 16 game schedule starting at the end of April.
