Birmingham Steel Announce Tryouts

The Birmingham Steel of the newly formed Continental Basketball League (CBL) will be holding open tryouts for their basketball squad and dance team on March 27th at the Jackson-Olin High School in Birmingham. Jackson-Olin High School is located at 1300 Avenue F in Birmingham. Registration starts at 9:30 with a start time of 10:00 sharp.

Head Coach Richard Ashmon says of the tryout, "There is some incredible talent here in the Birmingham area. We hope to attract not only players with college playing experience, but those who may have played in the US minor leagues or overseas. We think this is a great opportunity for those who want to further their careers a chance to get some good exposure and playing time."

When it comes to the dance team, Ashmon says, "The dance team is really what gets the crowd going. We are looking for young men and women who can get a crowd fired up."

The registration fee for both the dance team and the basketball team tryouts is $50.00. The fee can be paid with certified funds or cash. The Continental Basketball League is a five team league based in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The league has teams in Birmingham, Savannah, GA; Wilmington, NC; Marietta, GA and Fayetteville, NC.
