Birmingham Magicians News Release
Birmingham, AL. The ABA Birmingham Magicians professional basketball team that begins play in November today announced that the team will host its first free agent tryouts on June 4th at historic Miles College in Birmingham and June 11th in Dothan, Alabama at Greater Beulah Baptist Church. Team officials say it was important to get free agent tryouts going early to make sure we canvass the entire state of Alabama for the best talent.
"Alabama and particularly the Birmingham area, has a deep and rich tradition of outstanding basketball players that have fed the state's top universities such as Alabama, Auburn and UAB into being top caliber NCAA programs," said Albert Owens, Director Free Agent Tryouts. Owens, a former University of North Alabama All-American and professional basketball player promises the Birmingham Magicians will be one of the premier teams in the ABA. "Our ownership group, headed by Birmingham attorney Reginald McDaniel, is in the process of putting together an operations team that will be second to none," Owens added. "We have been getting inquiries for over a year now and the free agent camp will be our first official event." The Birmingham ABA team will also host camps in other Alabama cities to be announced later.
The tryout camp will take place at Knox-Windham Gymnasium on the Miles Campus from 830am-5pm on June 4th. The registration fee for participation in the camps is $125 until May 26th. The Dothan camp will take place at the Beulah Baptist Church, 254 Headland Avenue, Dothan, AL on Sat, June 11th from 830am-4pm.
