
Newark Express announces first open tryout

Newark, NJ. Marsha Blount and Jacqueline Halyard, co-owners of the ABA Newark Express professional basketball team that begins play in November announced that the first open tryout for the team is scheduled for June 4th and 5th at the Boys & Girls Club of Newark (1 Avon Avenue). For more information, contact either the Boys & Girls Club at 973 824 8500 or call the Newark Express at 973 586 0006. Registration fee is $150 per player. There will be a 3 hour try-out on Saturday and Sunday. According to Ms. Blount, "We know that there are some great area players wanting to play professional basketball and we hope they'll attend our tryout camp as Jackie and I want to have a very competitive team."
The Newark Express held its Official Press Conference a short time ago. The Boys & Girls Club of Newark were the gracious hosts in providing a site for the City of Newark to welcome the Newark Express. The reception was inspiring as owners Marsha Blount and Jacqueline Halyard shared with the attendees their commitment and vision for Newark. Mayor Sharpe James sent a letter stating his warmest welcome and support.

*Numerous Supporters, Players and Coaches.
The relationships that have been established with community leaderes and youth organizations in Newark will pave the way to a long-term partnership with the Newark Express and the City of Newark. The owners stated, "We are committed to be in intricate part of the revitalization of the City of Newark. Our presence will create new streams of revenue for local business owners; there will be jobs and internships for our young people, and we will ultimately provide a state for our local talent to shine."
